In this class the student will understand the importance of writing the Gospel into song. The focus will be on writing lyric poetry with an appreciation of the mechanics of rhythm, meter, rhyme, and their role in congregational singing. The student will learn the necessity of editing and reviewing, and be able to write one original verse of four to eight phrases. This course will also include information on worship theology, the singing of hymns pre-harmony, and the singing and evaluation of new hymns.
